EAST. App Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how EAST. (“EAST.”, “the App”, “we”, “us”, or “our”) handles information.

EAST. is operated by Dogukan Isik, an independent developer based in Türkiye.

EAST. is designed as a private, local-first daily ritual. We collect as little information as possible and do not build advertising profiles about our users.

This policy applies to the EAST. iOS application. Information about the EAST. website is covered by the Website Privacy Policy.

1. Information We Do Not Collect

EAST. does not require you to create an account.

The App does not directly collect or request:

  • your name;
  • phone number;
  • physical address;
  • precise or approximate location;
  • contacts;
  • photos;
  • advertising identifier;
  • browsing history;
  • health or fitness information;
  • payment card or banking information.

The App does not include advertising, advertising SDKs, third-party analytics SDKs, cross-app tracking, or behavioural profiling.

We do not use your information for targeted advertising or advertising measurement.

2. Information Stored on Your Device and in iCloud

EAST. stores limited information locally on your device so that the App can function.

This may include:

  • your current daily wisdom access state and reveal time;
  • wisdoms you choose to keep;
  • reflections you write;
  • your Keeper entitlement status;
  • notification and Daily Reminder preferences;
  • scheduled local-notification information;
  • Journal preferences;
  • other basic App settings and preferences.

Your daily ritual timing and rolling 24-hour access state remain on your device and are not synced through iCloud.

If you choose to enable iCloud Sync, your Kept wisdoms and Reflections are also stored in your private iCloud database using Apple CloudKit so that they can remain available across your Apple devices.

Private CloudKit data belongs to your iCloud account. By default, it is accessible only through your account and is not visible to EAST. through Apple’s CloudKit developer portal.

EAST. does not operate a separate account system or backend database containing your Kept wisdoms or Reflections.

You can disable iCloud Sync or remove synced EAST. data from iCloud through the App without deleting the local copies that remain on your device.

Deleting content within the App or uninstalling the App may permanently remove locally stored information.

3. Reflections

Reflections are private user-created content.

They are stored locally on your device. If you choose to enable iCloud Sync, they are also stored in your private iCloud database through Apple CloudKit.

EAST. does not use the contents of your reflections for advertising, tracking, profiling, analytics, or automated decision-making.

EAST. does not operate a server that receives or stores the contents of your reflections.

When iCloud Sync is enabled, Apple processes and stores the synced data as part of your private iCloud account under Apple’s applicable terms and privacy practices.

You can edit or delete Reflections within the App and can remove synced EAST. data from iCloud using the controls provided in the App.

4. Notifications

EAST. may request permission to display notifications.

Notifications used by EAST. are scheduled locally on your device using iOS notification APIs. EAST. does not operate a remote push-notification server and does not receive or store a push-notification device token for marketing purposes.

Your notification permission is controlled by iOS. You may change notification access at any time through your device settings.

Turning Daily Reminder off within EAST. cancels reminders scheduled by the App but does not itself revoke the system-level notification permission granted through iOS.

5. In-App Purchases

EAST. may offer a one-time non-consumable purchase known as Keeper.

Payments and purchase processing are handled by Apple through the App Store and StoreKit.

EAST. may receive limited purchase-related information from StoreKit, such as:

  • the purchased product identifier;
  • transaction or entitlement status;
  • information required to unlock or restore Keeper access.

This information is used only to provide and restore the purchased feature.

EAST. does not receive, process, or store your payment card number, bank account information, or Apple Account password. Apple processes purchases under its own terms and privacy practices.

6. Support Communications

Selecting Reach Out opens your chosen email application. EAST. does not automatically send an email or collect your email address merely because you open that option.

When you choose to contact us, we may receive:

  • your email address;
  • your name, if included in your email account or message;
  • the contents of your message;
  • attachments or technical details you voluntarily provide.

We use this information only to:

  • respond to your request;
  • provide support;
  • investigate technical problems;
  • prevent misuse;
  • comply with legal obligations where applicable.

Support communications are retained only for as long as reasonably necessary to respond, maintain appropriate support records, resolve disputes, or comply with legal obligations.

Please avoid including sensitive personal information that is not necessary for your request.

7. External Services and Websites

EAST. may open external websites, Apple-operated purchase interfaces, or iOS Settings.

These may include:

  • east.productions;
  • Apple-operated purchase or system-settings pages.

Once you leave the App or enter an independently operated service, the privacy practices of that website or service apply.

EAST. is not responsible for the content, security, availability, or privacy practices of independent third-party services.

8. Advertising, Analytics, and Tracking

EAST. does not contain advertisements.

EAST. does not use Google AdMob, advertising networks, tracking pixels, fingerprinting technology, or third-party behavioural analytics.

EAST. does not track your activity across apps or websites owned by other companies.

EAST. does not use the Apple advertising identifier.

EAST. does not send the contents of your wisdoms, Reflections, Journal, or other private user-created content to analytics services.

9. Sharing and Sale of Personal Information

EAST. does not sell or rent personal information.

EAST. does not share personal information with data brokers, advertising networks, or third parties for targeted advertising.

Information you voluntarily provide through support communications may be processed by the email providers and infrastructure necessary to deliver and respond to the message.

Purchase-related information is processed by Apple as necessary to provide App Store purchases.

We may disclose information when reasonably necessary to comply with a valid legal obligation, protect our legal rights, investigate fraud or security concerns, or protect users and the public.

10. Legal Bases for Processing

Where data-protection law requires a legal basis, we process limited personal information only when necessary:

  • to respond to a request you have made;
  • to provide or restore a purchase;
  • to perform our obligations connected with the App;
  • for our legitimate interests in providing support, maintaining security, and protecting the App;
  • to comply with applicable legal obligations;
  • with your consent, where consent is legally required.

You may withdraw consent where processing is based on consent. Withdrawal does not affect processing that occurred before consent was withdrawn.

11. Data Retention and Deletion

Locally stored App information remains on your device until you delete the relevant content, remove the App’s data where an available control allows it, or uninstall the App.

If iCloud Sync is enabled, Kept wisdoms and Reflections may also remain in your private iCloud database so they can sync across your devices.

EAST. provides a control in the App that allows you to remove synced EAST. data from iCloud. Removing the iCloud copies does not delete the local copies that remain on your device.

You can also export supported EAST. data from the App for your own use.

Because EAST. does not operate a separate backend account containing your Kept wisdoms or Reflections, contacting EAST. support is not a substitute for using the App’s local or iCloud data-management controls.

Support emails and related correspondence are retained only for as long as reasonably necessary for support, security, dispute resolution, and legal compliance.

12. International Processing

Apple, email providers, hosting providers, and external websites may process information in countries other than the country where you live.

If you enable iCloud Sync, Apple may process your private CloudKit data as part of providing iCloud and CloudKit services.

EAST. does not independently operate servers that receive or store your Kept wisdoms or Reflections.

Processing performed by Apple or other independently operated services is governed by their own terms, privacy practices, and applicable safeguards.

13. Security

We use reasonable technical and organisational measures appropriate to the limited information we process.

However, no device, email system, browser, storage method, or internet transmission can be guaranteed to be completely secure.

You are responsible for maintaining the security of your device, device passcode, Apple Account, and email account.

14. Children’s Privacy

EAST. is not specifically directed to children under the age of 13.

We do not knowingly collect personal information from children through the App.

If you believe that a child has sent personal information to us through a support communication, contact us so that we can review and, where appropriate, delete it.

15. Your Privacy Rights

Depending on where you live, you may have rights concerning personal information we hold about you, including the right to:

  • receive information about processing;
  • request access;
  • request correction;
  • request deletion;
  • request restriction of processing;
  • object to certain processing;
  • request data portability where applicable;
  • withdraw consent where processing is based on consent;
  • lodge a complaint with the competent data-protection authority.

You can manage or delete locally stored EAST. content directly within the App. If you enable iCloud Sync, you can also use the App’s controls to manage or remove synced EAST. data from your private iCloud database.

We may need to request limited information to confirm your identity before responding to a privacy request.

16. Automated Decision-Making

EAST. does not use personal information for automated decision-making, credit decisions, eligibility decisions, or profiling that produces legal or similarly significant effects.

The selection and display of daily wisdom content is an App feature and is not based on a personal advertising or behavioural profile.

17. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when the App, our practices, or legal requirements change.

The updated policy will be published with a revised “Last Updated” date.

Material changes will be communicated through an appropriate method where legally required.
